Discovering Valais: our favorite activities all year round

À la découverte du Valais : nos activités préférées en toute saison

Valais is our playground. Not just because we brew our beers here, but because we live here, hike here, ski here, dive in its lakes and rivers… No matter the season, there’s always a good reason to get outside, explore, breathe, and often end the day with a WhiteFrontier craft beer.

This blend of adventure, simplicity, and sharing inspires us every day — and that’s exactly what we want to share here.
Here are our ideas for local, genuine and simple activities to enjoy Valais the way we love it at WhiteFrontier — a little wild, a little indulgent, and always authentic.

In Autumn

1. Chestnut Festival in Fully
Wander through the narrow streets of Fully, smell the chestnuts roasting, and bite into that little taste of autumn... It’s a celebration of local flavors, friendship, good wine, and a fresh beer shared among friends. Right after the Foire du Valais, it’s a must to welcome the new season properly.

2. Walk along a “bisse” above Sion
There’s nothing quite like the golden autumn light filtering through the trees. The bisses, those scenic trails between forest and vineyard, offer peaceful walks — perfect to clear your mind and fill your lungs with fresh air. And when the sun sets behind the vines, it’s the perfect time to pull a WhiteFrontier from your backpack.

3. Escape Room in Martigny or Charrat
When the weather turns moody, we keep the fun going. Gather some friends, tackle an escape game, use your brain, and share a good laugh — that’s another great way to enjoy autumn in Valais.

In Winter

1. A day on the slopes
You can’t talk about Valais without talking about its mountains. Whether in Verbier, Nendaz, or Crans-Montana, a ski day means adventure, stunning views, and a WhiteFrontier beer on the terrace. It’s our favorite way to turn cold into energy — and to wrap up the day with a beer in the snow.

2. Thermal baths
After snow and cold, it’s time to warm up. Whether in Saillon, Lavey, or Brigerbad, soaking in hot water surrounded by snowy peaks is pure Valais luxury.
And if you’d rather stay in Martigny, enjoy a moment of relaxation at My Sauna at the Rossel — a cozy Finnish sauna, perfect for unwinding.

3. Visit a local brewery
Let’s be honest: winter is the perfect season to discover new craft beers. Valais is full of small, passionate breweries, and we love meeting those who brew with heart. At WhiteFrontier, we offer group visits with tastings the ideal way to share good times and understand the art of brewing.

In Spring

1. Chill by the Champex Lake
As soon as the snow melts, we head for the water. Champex-Lac, with its wooden chalets and snowy mountain backdrop, is the perfect place to relax and escape the noise of everyday life.

2. Bike ride along the Rhône
Spring is the season when two wheels make their comeback. Follow the Rhône through blossoming orchards and vineyard villages it’s gentle, simple, and filled with the scent of renewal.

3. Visit Barryland
You can’t talk about Valais without mentioning its most iconic mountain dog: the Saint Bernard. At Barryland in Martigny, you can discover the history of these legendary dogs, watch the puppies play, and experience an alpine tradition that still warms local hearts a mix of heritage, emotion, and tenderness, perfect for spring.

In Summer

1. Hike through the Durnand Gorges
Cool air, waterfalls, wooden bridges the Durnand Gorges are a real summer gem. The climb takes some effort, but every step is worth it for the view and the refreshing atmosphere. And yes, it’s the perfect excuse for a cold WhiteFrontier beer break.

2. Picnic at Pierre Avoi at sunrise or sunset
For those who love magical moments hike up to Pierre Avoi, unpack your picnic (and maybe a couple of chilled beers), and watch the sun paint the Alps gold. It doesn’t get more beautiful than that.

3. Zoo and pool at Les Marécottes
A true summer classic in Valais. A mountain zoo, a natural rock pool, and a day filled with nature, animals, and swimming  simple, effective, and always a pleasure.

The Little Extras

1. RealFly in Sion
Want an adrenaline rush without jumping from a plane? RealFly is the indoor skydiving simulator in Sion guaranteed thrills, no matter the weather.

2. WhiteFrontier Brunch / Taproom
Because a Sunday without brunch isn’t really a Sunday. Add our WhiteFrontier beers and the relaxed Taproom vibe, and you’ve got yourself a weekly ritual.

3. Via Ferrata
The via ferratas of Valais are a must for thrillseekers and view lovers. In Nax, the Tête à Claudine route offers a dizzying traverse above the Rhône — pure adventure on a cliffside, with the mountains as your backdrop.

4. Visit the Valais wine cellars
In Valais, wine is part of the landscape. Whatever the season, there’s always a cellar open for a tasting, a chat with a winemaker, and a moment to enjoy the local art of living.

5. WhiteFrontier Taproom Terrace
Our favorite spot to soak up the sun. The Taproom terrace in Martigny is the perfect place to sit back, taste our latest creations, and share a moment with friends.

And you ? what are your favorite things to do in Valais?
Make the most of every moment and why not raise a WhiteFrontier to toast your next Valais adventure?
